From Our Front Porch Looking In

A lot is going on. So much that I don't have time to write about it right now, although it is midnight and things should be winding down. Sorry.

But, I did want to say: this wedding thing is becoming real.

  • I just changed my email address to ack.alyssarae (ack, like Ackerman, my new last name...get it?).

  • I just joined the Ackerman family phone plan.

  • Dustin and I got a Sam's Club membership. Together. As a couple.

  • And we've started coupon-ing. And we're stocking up on household supplies and cold cereal (to make my mother proud).

Cute, eh?

I only have one question. Did stuff like this make anyone else emotional? I mean, I'm totally excited. Really, I've never been more excited to got to Sam's Club and buy strawberries on 'Sample Saturday' in my life. I love this nice, perfect boy (who happens to be really good looking pushing the over-sized cart). But, I almost cried when I realized I wasn't a little girl anymore who got free minutes to talk to her parents anymore.

I know, I'm crazy. Take into account please the fact I'm not sleeping, eating way too much due to stress, sick of being engaged...all making me emotional anyway. This is not even factoring in the fact I struggle with change to begin with.

But this change is the best thing that has, or will, ever happen to me.

Bring on the 40cents a minute overage.

When I was little, I sang a song that went like this: "I love to see the temple, I'll go inside someday...For the temple is a holy place, where we are sealed together. As a child of God, I've learned this truth: a family is forever."

Dustin and I are getting ready to make our wedding slide show (typical, I know). I was scanning in pictures from my childhood last night (by the way, pictures from ages 0-8 are a lot more fun than pictures ages 8-17) and I found this one:

(And yes, I still sport the hairstyle today)
The temple mold I am holding was placed on the tables at my parent's wedding reception. It is the Manti, Utah Temple-where we were sealed as a family for time and all eternity. The man that sealed us as an eternal family lived in my dad's hometown. Years later, after our family grew (and boy, did it grow) we ran into President Gardner.

Here is our eternal family and the man who sealed us, with the right authority from God, and his beloved wife:

How cool is that? How awesome is it that I have a family here on earth, and through Heavenly Father's plan, I can be with them through all eternity?

Now, again, years later, I am preparing to enter the temple. That same temple located on the hill in Manti, Utah. I'm going to be sealed to the love of my life. Not just until this life makes us part through death-but for all eternity.

I'm so glad I was taught so young the importance of the temple.

PS, 50 and counting!

I'm going to make this brief-it's a pretty typical "big brother/big sister" post. I don't think extra commentary is necessary.

Chase graduated:

Haylee graduated:

Yes, we do feel old.

And, yes, we love them. A lot.

Tonight:

Dustin took me to my favorite sandwich place
slash frozen yogurt place.

And then to Wal*Mart
to buy Toby's top 35 songs.

And then on a drive
with the windows down
blaring Toby-
he knew that's what I like to do in the summer.

Reason #9435 why I love him:
he humors me and my ridiculous obsessions and habits.

And acts OK with it.

Jealous yet?

...as you should be.

I'm pretty lucky to be in love with my best friend.
(who happens to be insanely good looking)

I think I should try and convince him to spend forever with me. Maybe I could bribe him with a lot of Nutella and Everything Bagels. That should do it.
