From Our Front Porch Looking In

Oddly, I just logged into my account to find the blog already updated. Funny, I've been bugging Dustin to be a guest author on the blog for quite sometime. Guess neither of us can sleep.

I would apologize for not blogging, but I'm not sorry. I have had an emotional, overwhelming, stressful, incredible couple of weeks. Want me to tell you some of my favorite things that have happened? OK, I will. You're welcome for talking about myself. I know you heart it.

Because you love it so much, I think I'll keep you on your toes, make things interesting and do it in no particular order.

1) School is over for the semester. And for seven weeks. No more stress after/during/before work.
2) Tonight, as we were swimming with my family in the hotel pool in Provo, I kept making eye contact with Dustin from across the room (he was being attacked by Josh). Every time I looked at him he would grin. And not just a smile. It was a full on, grin from ear-to-ear, melt your heart smile.
3) I moved out of single student housing. Forever. (I won't lie, I was a lot nostalgic as I left.)
4) My neighbors have been such a part of my reception.
5) My mom has given up everything even somewhat important to her, in order to make me happy. It's killing her off, and she's still doing it. There's not many women like that.
6) Dustin introduces himself to me over text message saying, "Hi, I'm going to marry you."
7) And sometimes he texts me and simply lets me know he's "so, so excited."
8) My apartment is really cute for a small, 2-bedroom apartment.
9) Morgan did 100 nails tonight in order to make sure everyone had pretty nails. My siblings all rock. They're all so excited for me. They've all given up everything to have me be happy.
10) For my bachelorette party tonight, the boys went next door to Arby's and brought back late night snacks.
11) I went to the temple to receive my endowment. Never have I felt such a spirit. Never have I known so many people loved me. So much.
12) After the endowment we went to Red Robin. This was because I love salt and french fries.
13) Patty offered to buy sushi for everyone. Simply because I love it. How sweet is that?
14) I got my hair done. Dustin loves the color. I love when he not only notices, but noticably loves it.
15) We are cute and pack overnight bags together.
16) I had to find flat sandal to go with my dress to make it long enough. My feet thank me in advance.
17) My Aunt, Uncle, and cousins save the day again. Folks, they're not just coming tomorrow. They're coming again for the reception in a week. That a lot of driving. In only a couple weeks. I wish we could tell them how much they really save the day.
18) I'm not nervous at all. Why be nervous about spending the rest of my life with my best friend?
19) I'm really tired, but I don't want to sleep. I'm too excited.
20) Today my mom noticed I was realizing this is really happening. She saw me staring out the window. Quiet. That's not like me to be quiet.
21) My bouquet is gorgeous. Way better than I expected.
22) My dad thanked me for making it to the temple. That meant a lot. It's been my goal for as long as I can remember to be like and please him.
23) Tomorrow I get married in the temple of my dreams. Not only that, but it will last forever. That means For-ev-er.

So many good things have happened. I can't even scratch the surface. So many more are to come.

Tomorrow I become Mrs. Dustin John Ackerman. I couldn't be happier.

Dear Future Alyssa Ackerman,

You're the luckiest girl in the entire world. Count your blessings everyday. There are so many of them. I already know. You will be spoiled, and loved beyond your wildest dreams.

And, don't forget those who got you there. Or those who will keep you there. Thank God everyday for families, they will always mean the world to you. Be careful what you say to them. Let them know always have you feel about them.

Alyssa, enjoy tomorrow. It will be the happiest day of your life.

Now, lay down and try to sleep. You'll be grateful when you don't have to cover up shadows under your eyes in the morning.

Good luck.

Yours Truly (literally)

Tomorrow is July 30th! I've never been more excited in my life! I'm marrying such a stud. He's such a strong and handsome man.....how did I get soooo Lucky!

Ok...Jokes landed. This is actually Dustin and I'm sitting in my hotel room on the night before I marry my best friend and I just hacked into her blogger account. I decided she hasn't posted in a little bit, so I'll take care of it for her......shhhh...don't tell!

Never in my life have a met a girl quite like Alyssa. Not one person has ever made me happier. Since day one she has always been fully aware of all my needs and has met and exceeded them all. No one has ever been more caring and loving than her. She treats me like a king when I deserve much much less.

She inspires me to be a better person and to work hard in everything I do. She teaches me everyday what it means to be diligent.

I wish I could bottle up her laugh and take it with me everywhere I go. Ya, that's kind of weird, I know, but it never fails to make me smile. Which brings me to her smile, it brightens up the room and is as contagious as the chicken pox. (bad comparison? ohh well, I'm new at this)

Every day I fall more and more in love with her. I still get goosebumps or my stomach jumps into my chest when I see her for the first time that day.

Tomorrow we will be sealed in the Manti Utah Temple. Never did I think I would be married there, but now I can't think of a better place in the whole world to do it.

Alyssa, I love you more than you know and I'm so excited for this life and the eternities to come!

Yours Truly

Dustin

Today I checked my own iron to see if I'm anemic. Nope. Totally normal. Why is it that I always want to blame something else for anything? Alright, that doesn't make much sense; for example, why do I refuse to see that I don't sleep enough, thus I am tired? Instead, I poke my finger, draw blood, and hope I'm anemic.

I think it's because that would provide and easy answer. I could pop some iron supplements and feel like a whole new person. I'm such a lazy cheater.

Lately I've been wanting easy answers for everything. Like everything. I hate my clothes, so I want to buy all new. (By the way, I've fallen in love with Shabby Apple. Look at it, I dare you not to love it too.) And I get really mad at my car. I love my car, but, she stinks (literally and metaphorically). I'm glad she's made it this far; but I really want easy. I really just want to buy a new one. And I want to buy a new, new Jeep. Because that would be so easy.

I really don't want to do my classes anymore. I only have one more week and I want to quit. I just want to quit my classes and look at wedding blogs all day, everyday. And hairstyles. I am so sick of my long hair I could puke. D$ claims he loves it. But, he doesn't. In all reality, every time it touches him, he brushes it away. It annoys him, I think. (And yes, I call my hair "it." It is past the point of being referred to in any decent term.) I really want to cut it short after the wedding. I want to cut it so badly, I think I'll do it myself. In the car. On the way to the honeymoon.

Sometimes I want to be other people. That's what blog stalking and working with women all day will do to you.

I really do like me. And I like being me. And I'm really lucky to be me.

Sometimes, being the lazy cheater I am, it would be nice if me had an easy button.

I now have a more firm, steadfast, unmovable testimony of service.

Thanks to the Mormon act of service we sealed and stamped 500 envelopes in approximately 10 minutes.

No joke. 500. 10 minutes.

Our family ventured to the Mormon Miracle Pageant for the first time in a few years. This used to be tradition, never to be missed. It was nice to return.

As we took pictures, I couldn't help becoming sentimental. I couldn't help it.

Quite a few years ago, this family was sealed, inside these walls, by God's power here on Earth, for time and all eternity.

The next time Dustin and I step foot on these grounds (in 20 days from now, to be exact) we will also be sealed for time and all eternity.

And I can't wait.

Surprisingly, my birthday came and went without me making too much of a fuss over it. OK, by 'too much of a fuss' I mean that I only mentioned it 5-6 times daily rather than 3,765 times daily. But, even so, I'm a spoiled girl.

We spent the eve of the special day at my homestead in P-town. Mom made my favorite dinner, some delicious cake, we made a late-night grocery store for free donuts, and watched a movie with the fam. We made plans to have orange rolls for my "birthday breakfast" (a Momma Harrison tradition) Loved it.

But, it got better. Of course we stayed up 'til midnight (upon my insistence) to bring in my birthday appropriately. At midnight D$ gave me a smooch (being the first to wish me a happy birthday...with Morgan a very close second). Then he tucked me in bed.

I knew there was something going on the next day. (side note: remember how I'm really bad at letting people surprise me? I pester and pester, and pester some more...until I find out what it is. So, I had made a conscious effort to only ask 25 times what was going on, just so I knew something was.) I also knew we were headed to Utah for the day, and then to meet up with my parentals and siblings to head to Manti for the pageant the day after that. So, I asked if I needed to set an alarm or if he would wake me up. His response: that's number two. After questioning, I learned that not only did he have plans for my birthday, but he had a list of 22 of my favorite things planned for my birthday.

I tell ya...this boy. Nice and perfect don't touch it anymore.

As the day went on I learned there was an actual list. I didn't get to see until a later date, but now I have it in my possession. It's hard to surprise me, and these were all surprises.

*Kiss at midnight
*Wake her up (I love being woken up...not by an alarm)
*Help her with hair (I despise standing in front of a mirror doing my hair, but love when somebody else does. Yes, he straightened my hair that day.)
*Red Lobster
*Tanya (This would be my best friend, who was in on the surprise. She is also aware of how hard it is to surprise me and sent my birthday present in the mail a couple days before. Tanya and her husband met up with us at Red Lobster.)
*Drive w/ Toby (Toby would be Toby Keith, remember that I like to listen to country music in the summer? I have a special love for Toby.)
*Shop at Target
*New shirt/shorts
*Buy sunglasses (one of my many weaknesses)
*Shop at Maurice's
*Shop at IKEA
*Hunger Games (I'd mentioned a few times I wanted to buy the second book. He remembered. All on his own.)
*Gummy bears/worms
*Famous Dave's cornbread
*Temple Square
*Take pictures of her (He also did this one on his own. I kind of ruined it by not allowing him to follow through, and it wasn't until later I realized the significance. See that here.)
*Snow cone
*Soft serve (Ice cream, that is. An all time favorite of mine. So much so, that it will be served at our reception. Now you want to come.)
*Manti Temple picture (where we will be wed, and my dream temple)
*Coupon book (I've been complaining about my mess of a coupon folder for months.)
*Hair products (There are few things I love more than new hair products.)
*Cars 2 (This came out on my birthday. I mentioned that when I was little a lot of Disney movies came out on, or around, my birthday. My grandpa would often take us. Besides that, I loved the original Cars.)

Unfortunaltey, I was so wrapped up in how great everything was I forgot to snap many pictures. This is one of the few.

I'm still speechless.

Want to know how many times I've pushed the "New Post" tab? A lot. I've gotten to the point that so much has happened, I don't have anything to say. Like instead of "writer's block" I have "life block." (Do you wonder why my major includes the word "creative?" I do too. Everyday.)

We have gotten a lot done lately. Partly because it's crunch time (20 days, baby!), and mostly because we don't have a choice: it's crunch time.

Can I just tell you how much my mom rocks? So, so much. This goes for all the other mother figures in my life, too. Why they are willing to help me with a wedding...I'll never know. I'm probably not the easiest person to understand, or help, or plan with.

Because I don't know what to say, here's a picture of us registering. And I'm going to just finish this.

Please note the summary of my childhood pictured below:

It may also be important to notice this is a super-soaker.

That had to hurt.

Yes, I was a bully. And I was proud of it.
