From Our Front Porch Looking In

Have I mentioned how much I adore these two?

We're in kind of an awkward, changing, unknown time in our lives.
Luckily, my little family is constant.
I'm more confident in change and an unknown future than I have been before.
That's probably a surprising statement to those who have been following our family for awhile.
I'm usually a mess when it comes to change.
I won't say that I'm void of any anxious feelings, or freak out sessions.
Don't see something that calm and composed in my future...ever.
But, I've been fairly able to contain myself.

It has everything to do with the fact my best friend and I get to have sleepovers every night,
no matter what the change brings.
And that I have the cutest baby I get to drag along with me.
These constants make change bearable.

And maybe due, a little tiny bit, to the snow cones I convince the husband to indulge in five days a week.

Some of our favorite people (Sam, Mike, Lexi, and Javid)
were able to be sealed as an eternal family in the Bountiful Temple on July 7.

What a special day.
It was so neat to watch those kids be sealed to their parents for, well, forever.
Kids have such a sweet, innocent spirit.
The love in the room was incredible.

Thanks for letting us be a part of your special day!

We are so lucky to be part of forever families.

The husband graduated on Friday.
July 20th.

I'm so proud.
He worked so hard to get there.
He did multiple internships and worked for free many times to get all the experience he could.
Besides that, how many people can make it to graduation in financial economics and like it?
Exactly.

The day started when we accidently slept in.
Cuddled with Abby.

Our families came for lunch.
Dominoes pizza and Jones Soda.
(The husband's request)

Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures.

We headed up to campus and snapped some pictures prior to graduation.

Did you know it was the largest graduation for the BYU of Idaho thus far?
That's right, over 1600 students graduating this semester.

Abby was kind of a little stink.
But, to be fair, she has had like two days like that ever.
And we had messed up her schedule.
So, all things considering, I take it back. She was quite good.

I was so proud of Dustin.
It didn't really hit me until the processional started.
I got all teary and mushy and said to my mom,
"This is so exciting!"
And it really was.

My husband, Abby's Daddy, does so much to make sure we have good lives.
Both presently and in the future.

I'm pretty sure we're the luckiest girls around.

Congratulations to the love of my life.
That hard work has paid off.

One time, in high school, we decided to buy the boys hats for the girl's choice dance.
Our conversation went something like this (remember, I was especially sassy at this time in my life, so I deserved whatever I had coming my way):

Me: What size of hat do you need? Or, wait, do they have to special order it?
Date: Just M/L
Me: *scoff* (begin to walk away)
Date: Why don't I buy you a hat instead?
Me: What? That's not what everyone else doing, it wouldn't make sen-
Date: It's be easier for me to know the size to get for you. I'll just try it on a basketball.
(PS, that was one of the funnest dates I went on in high school)

The sad thing, there is great accuracy in his sarcastic statement.

It was no surprise that Abby's head was measuring large the whole time she was gestating.

Today Abby had her two month doctor's appointment.

Here's her stats:
Length: 55%
Weight: 33%
Head: 94%

Not really any surprise here either.
I think she's lucky.
(if you put aside the fact that she will never find hats that fit, let alone in the women's section)
It just means that we have more brains.
Right?

oh, and she got shots today.
I've administered plenty of shots in my lifetime.
To adults and babes.

It's so much harder when it's your own child.
I didn't turn into the crazy, bawling mom.
But it did break my heart and make me cuddle her more than usual today.

Our baby is two months old today.
Two whole months.

Smiling (never on demand, of course), an occasional giggle,
and still got her parentals wrapped around her incredibly long fingers.

See for yourself.
Pictured today:

I love this one, albeit the awkward angle. At least someone thinks I'm funny.

Sunday was our baby girl's blessing day.
It was such an amazingly special day.
I'm so grateful to have a husband who is worthy to hold the priesthood and give our baby a name and a blessing from our Father in Heaven.
I am so grateful and humbled to be the mother of such an amazing daughter.
I am grateful for all of our family and friends who support us so much.

Abby wore my blessing dress.
If that wasn't special, I don't know what is.

Like I said, we are supported and loved from so many people.
Abby Grunig, Abby's namesake,
Richard and Julie Westerberg-
These people have molded me, changed me, and made me better.
I admire them so much, and I know Abby will grow up to do so as well.

 And, our family.
They love us day to day.
Spoil us.
Love Abby beyond belief.
And, they worked their tails off to make the day a success.

It was a beautiful day.
I think one of my favorite parts,
was a simple moment I never want to forget.

Immediately after the blessing, Dustin sat down with Abby,
she was still in his arms.
We were holding hands, both of us looking at Abby, in total awe.
And a few minutes later I yawned.
Dustin looked at me and whispered, "Whoa, that's a big yawn!"
In a total and complete baby talk voice.
It was a sentence we often say to Abby,
and he said it out of habit to me - in response to my yawn.

It was in that moment that I really realized we were a family.
I realized I couldn't imagine life without our precious girl.
As we laughed, and tried to keep it reverent,
I relished in the moment that we are
a forever family.

I can' think of anything better.

PS: you can see my thoughts to Abby on her special day recorded here.

The Harrison family reunion was held over the 3rd and the 4th of July.
As per tradition.
Are you starting to sense a fad with the Harrisons?
Everything is per tradition.

We had loads of fun with family and friends.
It was the first time since Grandpa's funeral that everyone has been together.
This obviously called for a quick family photo.
I love what Uncle Shane said about this:
"That's a whole lotta Harrison's in one place!"
Heaven bless the town of Richfield for hosting us all.

There was a surprise birthday party for Grandma following the kid's parade.
A couple months late, too.
So, needless to say, she was pretty surprised.

If the surprise part wasn't good enough, there were 20 dozen Krispy Kremes.
As well as ample other goodies.

Dustin ran his first 5K fun run.
Also a tradition.
He says he made the mistake of trying to keep up with Kendon the first mile.
Mind you, Kendon is about 10 years younger and running is his sport.
But, he did amazing!
He took 8th in his age division.
Abby and I were pretty darn proud.

We hit the parade on the 4th, swam for awhile, and then hit the road.
The daddy of our little family had an immense amount of work awaiting him post vacation.

Here's a few (or a lot) pictures to document:
