From Our Front Porch Looking In

I've kind of put off writing this post. Mostly for the fact that I miss Lacey; I know, I'm a baby.
Last weekend (the same weekend as Gaston's baptism - just because the Ackerman family loves to include all major events in a weekend's time) was Lacey's farewell.
She did such a good job expressing her love for the gospel and her excitement to serve a full time mission.
She was calm and composed.
Very Lacey like.

There was a fun family gathering following the meeting, according to tradition.
Abby charmed the group, as always.
Somehow we remembered that camera, but didn't use it except the picture of Abby and her grandparents.

On her way to the MTC Sister Ackerman stopped by our house to say goodbye.
Being the person I am, and hating change they way I do - I dreaded this.
It's not that I'm not happy for her.
I am so happy, so proud.
But, I'm sad for me.
Lacey has proved to be one of my greatest friends - even better, I get her as a sister (in-law).
Not many people are that lucky.

She loved on Abby.
Gave us all hugs - and she was off.

Lac-

I'm so proud of you. We all are around here. We have no doubt you'll be the very best missionary. Those called to serve with you are the luckiest. You'll bless so many lives. We'll miss you everyday you're gone, and look forward to the day you'll have sleepovers with us again.

Oh, and we will attempt to be better with letters and packages.

Thanks for being such a good example, especially to me.

Sending all our love your way!

The three of us.

Our cousin, Gaston, chose to be baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He asked Dustin to baptize him.
It was such a special opportunity for Dustin, and we were so grateful we got to be a part of his special day.

Gaston,
We are so proud of you. What a neat boy you are. You are always so sweet (even the first time I met you, when you asked why Dustin didn't buy me an engagement ring for Valentine's day). I hope you know we'll be there rooting for you always. We know you'll be such an amazing missionary!

Thanks for setting a great example for us, and all those around you.
Love you!

This baby can throw a fit.
Don't get me wrong.
Lady A. is an incredibly calm, mellow girl.
But, come 8 o'clock pm - the fit sets in.
It's not even so much crying as...well, screaming.
Angry, angry screaming.

This tantrum lasts for approximately one hour.
Followed by giggles and constant smiles (especially for Daddy).
And then she refuses to sleep, at least until we do.

Since she is such a mellow, happy baby (and because she sleeps all night - and then goes right back to sleep until about 9 or 10 in the a.m.- something I am hesitant to mention for fear of the mobs of angry moms headed my way) I know I have no reason to complain.
I'm actually quite spoiled.
She spoils me.

But, these fits!
Did I mention she arches her back now, especially when mad?
Ever the dramatic one, she throws her body back, arching as she goes.
(The drama must be inherited from her Papi - ahem...)

I will say, she makes the most adorable pouty face I've ever seen.

I come from a family of runners.
Minus me.
(you can see a couple of other posts here and here)

We know no fall or spring.
They are cross country and track seasons, instead.

We are smack dab in the middle of cross country season right now.
Since we've been able to live close to home for a little while, we are lucky enough to watch Kendon run.
Abby loved every second of her first cross country meet.
And her grandparents, as well as aunts and uncles, were over joyed to hear this.
I think Abby is Uncle Kendon's biggest fan.

I love fall.
I anticipate it every year.
Sadly, in Idaho/Northern Utah it comes and goes very quickly.
I'm determined to enjoy it to it's fullest while it lasts - as shortly as it does.

Last week for our little family home evening we took a little stroll up the canyon.
There's something about the crisp air, a cold nose, and changing leaves.
And football. Lots and lots of football.

Abby was an angel the whole time, drooling and thoroughly enjoying her Daddy toting her around.

Tonight we celebrated the first day of October by baking a pumpkin pie (D's fav).
He claims she was pretty excited for this.

Happy first day of October!
Around here we're cherishing fall days - and hanging on to summer a little longer.
Maybe we'll hit the golf course a few more times.
All in effort to put off the dreaded winter months.
