From Our Front Porch Looking In

Abby sported these Mr. Potato Head glasses for most of the month of May. They started by being an accessory worn around the apartment. Then she wore them to the store. She wore them with complete confidence, smiling politely at the snickers as she passed. And then, she wore them to school. Her teacher chuckled when she saw her; I was confident Abby would take them off. Instead, she looked at her, laughed politely and said, "I know I look crazy, but I gotta see!" She wore them through all four hours of preschool - and multiple times after that. Folks, this kid his hilarious and I love every bit of her weirdness.

Stay weird, Abby.

^^a super fun trip the aquarium with Miss Ev and friends.

^^Abby, her glasses (more to come on that later) and Shopkins. That's what this kid's dreams are made of.

^^Dad graduated with his Ed Specialist Certificate (?). I wasn't there, but couldn't help snapping this screenshot. This guy cracks me up.

^^a late night shopping trip

Abby is known to steal my phone and snap pictures. Found this lovely selfie, and the picture of pure torture one morning.

^^after we got back, we made a trip to Ikea and the Bridgeport Zoo - mostly we just soaked up time with our main man

^^already a daddy's girl, and distance only made her heart grow fonder. everything Abby did, Daddy did, too.

^^first pigtails!

^^My mornings with this one are filled with total chaos (she's quite literally a human tornado), and sharing my food with her.

^^the obsession with shoes is real

^^Grandpa proudly shipped this to Evalyn, She plays with it everyday, ramming it into my heels repeatedly

^^thug life

^^a city pond/park is located right behind our apartment (a makeshift backyard for us). We made sure to attend the boat races one weekend.

^^But, first, a selfie

I'm a broken record: we are so stinking lucky our families live so close! After Preston, we headed straight to Pocatello to be spoiled by the other grandparents. They wasted no time, and Abby immediately had them strolling into the store, convinced she needed one of everything.

^^Evie immediately fell for Uncle Chase

^^Sleep with this one while traveling was a chore. But, moments like this made up for it (almost).

^^When the chip just isn't enough

^^Abby convinced us to take her to see Jungle Book, against our better judgment. As predicted, we left early. But, she rocked her 3D glasses!

^^Peanuts in my Diet Coke, and I felt like I truly became an Ackerman that day.

^^we just want to live by cousins!

^^A quick stop at Grandma Patty's office on our way out of town to double check Evie's ears

It's bittersweet to me to realize how difficult it is for me to say goodbye to my in laws. It is truly incredible that I love them as my own, and feel loved like I'm accepted as one of them. It really doesn't get easier.

^^A final drive through my favorite place, and I was frantically sending Dustin picture, begging him to move to Idaho.

^^I can't even look at this picture without getting teary. Grandma and Morgan dropped us off at the airport (at midnight). Abby cried, I cried. Ugh.

But, there was a super sweet reunion on the other side. Home is where this guy is.

We planned a (relatively) last minute trip to Idaho, thanks to my awesome in-laws. It was much needed by all of us - the only downside was Dustin staying home for work. It just happened that the weekend we planned the trip (over Abby's spring break) was graduation at BYU-Idaho. I made an executive decision to keep the trip a secret from Morgan, but couldn't resist tormenting her a little on April Fools Day. Props to the family with the biggest mouths (myself included) on keeping the secret the entire time!

^^We flew over night both ways. It was a big challenge to take, flying by myself for the first time with both girls...overnight. Evie only cried three of the five hours (insert eye roll here).

^^a successful surprise for our favorite graduate!

^^I technically graduated that weekend, too! But, since I hadn't planned on being in the area, I had brushed it aside. It was fun getting caught up in the celebrations. And, my family was extra sweet to celebrate me, too. Maybe someday I'll post about my thoughts on finishing school as a mom.

^^can't get enough of these cousins and constantly crave more time together!

^^As always, we were spoiled to death with the cutest girl clothes. So thankful Traci has good taste and shares with us!

^^the same weekend, Brooke went to prom. Of course we ate it up! My little baby sister who isn't so much of a baby anymore.

^^Evie had yet another ear infection while we were out there. She rarely left my side, but did allow some snuggles from Grandpa.

^^These two are quite a pair.

^^I talked Traci into doing my hair again. Another scare at first, but a huge success.

^^We dedicated an afternoon to de junking Morgan's room. I get way too much satisfaction out of throwing away other people's things.

^^And then our sick girl started to feel a little better.

I felt so lucky to soak up Springtime in Preston, with some of my favorite people, jam packed with exciting things all weekend. Goodbyes never get easier. In fact, the probably get harder! But, the time is more precious every time, too.
